Abraham done for year

With their playoff hopes dim, the Jets front office finally decided to end John Abraham's season by putting him on IR.

If the Jets were still in the playoff hunt, they likely would not have made this move. Since their pass rush hasn't been very good without him, Abraham would have come in handy in the post-season. But since the playoffs are basically out of the question, they decided to shelf Abraham for the season, and give his groin injury plenty of time to heal for next year.

Now the Jets roster stands at 51 players, two below the limit, but they won't likely add anyone this week. They are currently looking around at other team's practice squads to see if anyone piques their interest.

Ever since Abraham pulled his groin against Philadelphia, the Jets pass rush has been anemic. They have just eight sacks in six games since the Pro Bowl defensive end went down.

So for those people who think they should consider moving him to linebacker or trading him, you might want to reconsider.
