Jets release Conway

Wide receiver Curtis Conway, who was excessively criticized last season, was released on Monday.

When the Jets traded for Tennessee Titan wideout Justin McCareins on Friday, Conway's days in New York were over. He spent just one season with the Jets.

After a rough start while learning a new system, Conway settled in and had a decent season in 2003 with 47 catches.

But he could never overcome some people's obsession with comparing him to the man he replaced in Jets starting lineup, Laveranues Coles.
