With Jordan out of town, Jets seventh round pick Derrick Ward received a lot of reps, and was the star of the morning practice. He moves very well for a 233-pound back, and showed excellent quickness hitting the holes.
"He has some vision and instincts," said Edwards.
The Jets are listing Ward as a fullback, but it's clear from watching him at minicamp that his better position is tailback. He is looking like a potential seventh-round steal . . .

The Jets seems to have a lot of good young talent at wide receiver. Young veterans Kenyon Rambo (Raiders and Cowboys) and Lawrence Hamilton (Bengals) have been impressive in this camp. They were both signed late last season with an eye towards the future . . .
The Jets are going to mix in some no-huddle offense into their regular attack as a change of pace next season . . .
Dewayne Robertson has lost 12 pounds from the end of last year. He had put on a lot of weight at the end of the season, and it slowed him down . . .
Edwards has told his players and coaches that they aren't allowed to call time-outs in the first and third quarters next season. Edwards feels the team wasted too many time-outs last season . . .
Edwards comfirmed on Saturday that former tight ends coach Dick Curl will be next to him on the sidelines and help him with clock management and communication with the coaches booth in the press box . . .
