Jets make some moves

A day after stating that 2-time Pro Bowl CB Aaron Glenn (sprained knee) would miss 1-4 weeks and would be out for this Sunday's game at Pittsburgh, the New York Jets announced today that they have signed rookie CB/KR James Rooths off of the Green Bay Packers' practice squad.

Rooths, a 5-11, 210-pound rookie from Shepherd College (WV), originally signed with the Jets on April 28th and was later released by the club on September 1. He was signed by Green Bay to its practice squad on October 3 and was with the Packers until signing with the Jets.

At Shepherd, Rooths set an NCAA all-division single season record for punt return touchdowns with 5 and the career mark with 10.

To make room for Rooths, the Jets waived T Cornell Green. The 2nd year 6-6, 320-pound lineman from Central Florida had been on the Jets' active roster since November 17th, 2000. Green came to the Jets on waivers from Washington at the conclusion of the 2000 training camp. The Jets active roster is at the NFL limit of 53 players. Jared Winley
