The New York Jets announced today they have claimed fullback/tight end Casey Cramer off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.<p>
Cramer, a 6-2, 250-pound former Ivy Leaguer, was selected in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A native of Middleton, WI, Cramer played tight end for Dartmouth where he ranks second in school annals with 185 career receptions for 2,477 yards. As a co-captain in his senior season for the Big Green, Cramer was selected as the team's MVP and earned a spot in the East-West Shrine Game. With 72 receptions as a junior, he ranked first among all college tight ends in 2003.
A big reason for this move is the lingering shoulder injury to Jets backup fullback B.J. Askew.
