Jets cut John Reese
Stewart, a 6-4, 327-pound defensive tackle out of Southern Mississippi University, was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He suffered a torn rotator cuff in his senior year at Southern Miss that required season-ending surgery and forced him to miss the entire 2001 NFL season. Stewart made the Cowboys' roster in 2002 but was inactive for games one through 16. In 2003, he saw action in 15 games (one start) and recorded 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was released by Dallas on September 14.
