Injury report analysis

Jets backup DT Josh Evans (back-questionable) will not play this week, and could be facing back surgery.<p>

Due to Evans ailment, the Jets claimed DT Daleroy Stewart off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. Stewart fell out of favor with Bill Parcells because the the coach didn't feel he was playing with enough passion. The Jets hope that their fiery defensive line coach Denny Marcin can get through to him. At 6-4, 324, Stewart is a good fit for a Jets defense that plays a lot of the 3-4 front.

DE Bryan Thomas (probable-hamstring) could play this week, but we can't guaranteed it. Last week he was probable as well, but was declared inactive. If Thomas can't go, rookie Trevor Johnson will once again back up at both defensive end positions like he did in the opener.

S Jon McGraw (probable-groin) could play, but just like Thomas he was listed as probable last week and was inactive. If McGraw does play, he will not start, and will likely play a role on passing downs. He's the Jets best coverage safety and they clearly missed him last week against the Bengals. If McGraw can't go, veteran Reggie Tongue will start in his place.
