Jets sign Caylor

The New York Jets announced today they have signed C Drew Caylor to their active roster and placed defensive tackle Josh Evans on injured reserve.

The announcement was made by Jets' public relations departement.

Drew Caylor, a 6-5, 291-pound center, made his way to the Jets from the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad. Originally drafted in the sixth round (197th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft by Pittsburgh, Caylor was released from their roster on September 5, 2004 and signed to their practice squad on September 6, 2004. He spent his collegiate years as a Stanford Cardinal and was a defensive lineman the first three years before moving to the opposite side of the ball in his senior season. He took over the starting center spot for the final seven games of the 2003 campaign and also handled the long snapping duties in each of his final three seasons.
