Daleroy's stay in NY short

The Jets released defensive tackle Daleroy Stewart on Thursday.<p>

Stewart was claimed by the Jets off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys after Week One. He was active for one game at San Diego. He participated in all the bye week practices, and then was released.

The Jets obviously didn't like what they saw during his little over a week with the team. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells released Stewart because he didn't like the effort he displayed in the team's first game against the Minnesota Vikings.

With Josh Evans being put on IR with a back injury, the Jets have just three defensive tackles (Dewayne Robertson, Jason Ferguson and James Reed) on the active roster. However, since they are playing a lot of 3-4 defense, this number might be enough. Also, they intend on playing defensive end Bryan Thomas at defensive tackle in passing situations.
