The New York Jets announced today that they have submitted the names of the following five players for the veteran expansion pool created to stock the newest NFL team, the Houston Texans: DT-DE Shane Burton, CB Marcus Coleman, CB Aaron Glenn, FS Chris Hayes and T Ryan Young. The veteran allocation draft will be held on Feb. 18.

Jets general manager Terry Bradway released the following statement: "We knew when we first assembled this team last spring that we would be forced to make difficult personnel decisions following the 2001 season from a salary cap standpoint and from a coaching philosophy situation.

"The decision to place these five players on the list not only addresses immediate concerns, but potentially will give us the opportunity to build and shape the team in our vision.

"The process could provide a unique opportunity to reshape the team while keeping it competitive.

"Because of the unknowns relative to the next three and a half weeks, we will not comment on the hypothetical situations that could occur."
