Ferguson gone, Lamont close to a goner

The Jets tried hard to keep defensive tackle Jason Ferguson, but to no avail.<p>

Ferguson has agreed to a five-year, $21.5 million contract with a $9 million signing bonus to become a Dallas Cowboy.

Also, tailback Lamont Jordan should become an Oakland Raider on Thursday. Jordan's agent, Alvin Keels, is close to a deal with the Silver and Black.

Free agent right tackle Kareem McKenzie is not likely coming back to the Jets. The Jets were looking at former Buffalo Bill Jonas Jennings to replace him, but the offensive tackle signed a long-term deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.

Jennings' teammate, defensive tackle Pat Williams, is a player the Jets were interested in signing to replace Ferguson, but it looks like he is headed to Minnesota, to re-join his former defensive coordinator from Buffalo, Ted Cottrell, now an assistant with the Vikings.

The Jets are targeting former Kansas City Chief tailback Derrick Blaylock to replace Jordan.
