General Manager Terry Bradway considers tight end Joel Dreessen a pick for the future. He could end up on the practice squad . . .
In minicamp practices, the first team got 35 reps, the second team got 25 reps, and that left 15 reps for all third-stringers, who are mostly rookies.
"If you can't go hard for 15 plays, you probably can't play in this league," Edwards said to the rookies . . .
Wide receiver Chas Gessner had a great practice on Saturday catching two nice deep balls. The Brown-product is the Jets biggest receiver at 6-5, and he uses his size well. He was on their practice squad most of last season . . .
Wide receiver Harry Williams had a diving catch on the sideline . . .
Tight end Doug Jolley scored a touchdown on a 25- yard pass down the sideline . . .
Cornerback Oliver Celestin had another rough practice. He is starting with Donnie Abraham mulling retirement in Tampa and Ray Mickens still rehabbing his knee. Celestin is more comfortable at safety . . .
Running Derrick Blaylock looks good. He seems to follow his blockers well and has good moves . . .
Jets new offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger wasn't happy with the number of botched snaps between the centers and quarterbacks.
"We did better with the shotgun," said Heimerdinger.
Third round pick, defensive tackle Sione Pouha has had a rough minicamp.
"Yesterday was the worst practice of my entire life," said Pouha. "But if I hit rock bottom, I will climb out one rock at a time."
Pouha is very mature for a rookie. That is understandable. He is 26 years old.
Defensive end Shaun Ellis has taken him under his wing . . .
Rookie cornerback Justin Miller bought Krispy Kreme donuts for the coaches on Saturday. Coach Herman Edwards suggested the idea to him on Friday . . .
Rookie placekicker Mike Nugent made 6 of 6 field goals . . .
"I just think that they are thinking right now, and that's a tough position," said Edwards. "They are playing safety and there's a lot of communication. There's a lot of different things. So there's a lot on the plate right now, but they are probably not moving as fast as they are able to move."
