Jets acquire CB Pete Hunter

The New York Jets announced today the acquisition of cornerback Pete Hunter from the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional draft selection.

Hunter, 25, was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2002 Draft out of Virginia Union. The 6-2 212-pound native of Atlantic City, NJ has played in 30 regular season games, making five starts, and has recorded 43 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, nine passes defended and two fumbles recovered.

"I am excited about coming home and playing for the Jets," said Hunter. "I grew up watching the Green and White, this is a great opportunity. I've heard great things about playing for Coach Edwards and I'm really looking forward to joining my new teammates. I'm ready to get to work and contribute to the team."

"Pete is a player we identified a few months ago as someone who will provide depth to our secondary," said Terry Bradway. "He's a big, physical corner, who will contribute on defense and special teams. We believe he has upside, and that our coaches can put him in position to make plays."
