The New York Jets signed former Villanova running back Terry Butler on Saturday. Butler replaces the retired Vick King on the roster.

Scouting report furnished by TFY Draft Preview:

Terry Butler School: Villanova
Ht: 6-0.5 Wt: 198 40: 4.67 Year: 4Sr

Bio: Three-year starter who posted 152/636/10 on the ground as a senior, adding 13 receptions with two more scores. Posted career numbers as a sophomore with 202/868/9 on the ground and 36/311/3 catching the ball.

Positives: Compact runner with a tough style. Patient, waits for blocks to develop then follows them. Runs low to the ground, will pick his spots and slides off defenders, finding the small creases on the field. Displays top vision, runs with excellent balance and body control. Consistent pass catcher out of the backfield.

Negatives: Must pick up the intensity of his blocking. Game lacks overall speed.

Analysis: An instinctive football player with natural skills, Butler is versatile carrying the ball or catching it. Lacks the true size/speed numbers to be anything other than a situational player at the next level.
