McClover update - ankle not sprained, it's broken

Jets linebacker Darrell McClover suffered a broken ankle covering the opening kickoff of the second half in the Jets-Detroit preseason game. Head coach Herman Edwards updated his status on Saturday.

McClover had to be helped off the field by two trainers, and then was carted into the locker room from the sidelines.

The loss of McClover will hurt the Jets special teams. He might be their best kick coverage player.

How is Darrell McClover?

Herman Edwards: He's going to be out for a while. He broke his fibula, cracked his fibula. He's going into surgery I believe tomorrow.

Do you see him coming back this season or is it too soon to say?

Herman Edwards: Yes, he's going to come back.
