Jets release Jonathan Carter

In a surprising move, the Jets released wide receiver Jonathan Carter on Monday.

Carter has been battling a hamstring injury most of training camp.

This move leaves the Jets without a true deep threat at wide receiver. The only real speed receiver still on the roster is rookie Harry Williams, who will likely be sidelined another month with a knee injury.

Also waived on Monday was linebacker Mondoe Davis, who received an injury settlement. Davis blew out his knee in the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
