Jets place Maddox on IR; Sign one, waive two

The New York Jets announced today they have signed defensive back Aaron Francisco and waived linebacker Eric Mahl and wide receiver Brock Ralph. Safety Andre Maddox was placed on injured reserve.

Andre Maddox, 6-1, 200 pounds, was selected by the Jets in the fifth round (161st overall) of the 2005 NFL draft. He played in 10 games, with seven starts as a senior at North Carolina State and recorded 40 tackles, two sacks and four PD. Participated in 47 games and made 27 starts and finished with 324 tackles, eight sacks and 17 PD in his four-year career. He was placed on IR with a knee injury.

Aaron Francisco, 6-2, 212 pounds, was released by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, August 22, 2005 after he signed with them as an undrafted free agent on April 25. Francisco hails from Laie, HI, and attended Brigham Young University. During his senior year, Francisco recorded 88 tackles (43 solo) and had one sack and one interception. He finished his career with the Cougars with 330 tackles (167 solo) and seven interceptions.

Eric Mahl, 6-1, 244 pounds, was claimed off waivers by the Jets on August 2 after being waived by Cleveland on July 31. He led Kent State in tackles each of his last two seasons and was the school?s nominee for the Vern Smith Leadership Award given annually to the best overall football player in the MAC. Mahl was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2005.

Brock Ralph, 6-2, 185 pounds, signed with the Jets on January 12, 2005 after spending two seasons in the CFL. A native of Raymond, Alberta, Ralph played the 2004 season for the Edmonton Eskimos and recorded 49 receptions for 634 yards for a 12.9 average and one touchdown.
