Jets make several moves

The New York Jets announced today they have acquired tackle/guard Steve Morley from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice. The Club also announced they have waived first-year guard Jason Nerys and been awarded wide receiver Dante Ridgeway off of waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals and cornerback Lamont Reid off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

Morley, 24, is a 6-7, 330-pound native of Nova Scotia, originally broke into the NFL as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003 before being waived. He spent the 2004 season with the Packers, appearing on one game during the regular season.

Ridgeway, 6-1, 200-pounds, broke the Mid-American Conference single-season record for catches with 105 in 2004. He became the first player in school history to leave Ball State early for the NFL. Ridgeway was selected in the sixth-round of the 2005 Draft by the St. Louis Rams and was waived when the team cut-down to 65 players before being awarded to the Bengals the following day.

Reid, 5-11, 190-pounds is from North Carolina State, where, in 47 career games with the Wolf Pack, he recorded 125 tackles (88 solo) as well as two interceptions. He also returned 38 kicks for 984 yards and two touchdowns. As a senior in 2004, Reid returned seven kicks for a team-high 212 yards while adding 27 tackles, one interception and 10 pass breakups on defense. Reid signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent following the 2005 Draft.
