AP: Pennington done for the year

Jets coach Herman Edwards said at his Monday press conference that the Jets wouldn't know the status of quarterback Chad Pennington and his bad shoulder until the MRI results came back on Tuesday.

So much for that.

The Associated Press reported on Monday night that Pennington re-injured his right rotator cuff and is out for the year.

Pennington's injury was confirmed by an NFL source, who refused to be indentified.

With Jets backup quarterback Jay Fiedler also nursing a shoulder injury, Brooks Bollinger will start for the Jets, barring injury, for the rest of the season.

One player who could be added for depth is former Tennessee quarterback, Doug Johnson, who knows the offense of Jets coordinator Mike Heimderdinger from their time together with the Titans.
