Jets sign Testaverde

Even though he has never played in the Jets current offense, the team signed 41-year-old quarterback Vinny Testaverde on Tuesday.

But considering how close Jets coach Herman Edwards is with Testaverde, the veteran quarterback could emerge as the Jets starter very quickly.

Testaverde was signed after the Jets lost starting quarterback Chad Pennington, and his backup, Jay Fiedler, to season-ending shoulder injuries.

Considering the Jets offensive line is struggling protecting the team's quarterbacks, the immobile Testaverde might not be a great fit for the club.

But, Edwards, and GM Terry Bradway, have a history of attempting to find other options than Brooks Bollinger, the team's current starter, so don't be shocked if Bollinger's time as the starter is short-lived.
