Has explosive burst to instantly penetrate the backfield…Has a good feel for the ball and gets good leverage and pad level to hold at the point of attack and split the combo blocks…Shows proper rip moves, quickness and hand usage to defeat blocks…Drag-down tackler who will face up and drill the blocker in his quest to get to the ball carrier…Constantly is double-teamed, so uses that to his advantage by getting a strong push to flush the quarterback out of the pocket …Very adept at using his hands to cross face, shed and control his man…Has a fast burst when in pursuit… Senior defensive tackle who has proven to be one of college football's premier defensive players…Called a "Warrior" by his coaches, he was awarded the most inspirational award last year by his teammates…A pass rusher who defends the run very well, he is very quick off the ball…Moved into the starting lineup early in his freshman season, finishing his career with 233 tackles (126 solos), 21 sacks for minus 132 yards and 54 stops for losses of 211 yards… Only Jethro Franklin (31.5, 1986-87) and Ron Cox (50, 1987-89) had more sacks in a career for the Bulldogs…Also caused and recovered three fumbles…The three-time All-Western Athletic Conference choice started 45 of 50 games he played in at Fresno State.

 

2001 SEASON

All-Western Athletic Conference first-team selection and Defensive Player of the Year… Led the conference with 12 sacks for minus 79 yards and 21 stops for losses of 102 yards…Started every game at weakside defensive tackle…Recorded 58 tackles (38 solos) in fourteen contests… Recovered and caused a fumble…Intercepted a pass and deflected two others.

Colorado…Sacked QB Craig Ochs for a 2-yard loss.

Oregon State…Sacked QB Jonathan Smith twice for minus 14 yards, brought down tailback Ken Simonton three times behind the line of scrimmage and posted 4 hits.

Wisconsin…Made 4 tackles with 2 stops for losses.

Louisiana Tech…Had 5 tackles (3 solos) with two sacks for minus 11 yards and 4 stops for losses of 15 yards.

Colorado State…Caused a fumble and made 7 tackles (5 solos).

Boise State…Recovered a fumble and had 5 tackles.

Hawaii…Collected 6 solo tackles and sacked QB Nick Rolovich for a 10-yard loss.

Rice…Made 5 tackles with two sacks for minus 14 yards.

Nevada…Sacked QB David Neill for an 11-yard loss.

San Jose State…Returned an interception 5 yards.

Utah State…Had a 9-yard sack.

Michigan State (Silicon Valley Bowl)…Made 2 tackles and a stop for a 1-yard loss.

 

2000 SEASON

All-Western Athletic Conference first-team pick…On the Lombardi Award watch list…Lined up at weakside defensive tackle, starting every game, except vs. Southern Methodist…Recorded 56 tackles (31 solos) with three sacks for minus 23 yards and ranked second on the team with 16 stops for losses of 61 yards.

Ohio State…Stopped tailback Derek Combs twice behind the line of scrimmage and posted 4 hits.

UCLA…Tackled tailback Deshaun Foster for a 3-yard loss and made 5 tackles.

Nevada…Sacked QB David Neill for a 5-yard loss and made 4 tackles (3 solos).

Texas-El Paso…Registered 7 tackles (6 solos) and 3 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Texas Christian…Collected 8 tackles with a 6-yard sack and two stops for losses.

Rice, Southern Methodist and San Jose State…Had 5 tackles and a stop behind the line of scrimmage in each game.

Air Force (Silicon Valley Bowl)…Credited with a 9-yard sack, 2 stops for minus 10 yards and 6 tackles.

 

1999 SEASON

Selected first-team All-WAC and was Fresno State's nominee for WAC Defensive Player of the Year…Ranked second in the WAC in tackles for losses with 15 for 47 yards…Had a team-high nine quarterback pressures, adding five sacks for minus 24 yards…Recorded 80 tackles (39 solos) in thirteen games…Deflected three passes and caused two fumbles…Also blocked a field goal attempt.

Tulsa…Had a season-high 10 tackles (7 solos) with a pair of sacks for minus 13 yards and a forced fumble.

Rice…Recorded 9 tackles with 2 stops behind the line of scrimmage and a forced fumble.

Texas Christian…Posted 8 tackles (3 solos) with 2 stops for losses, limiting NCAA rushing leader LaDanian Tomlinson to a season-low 49 yards.

 

1998 SEASON

Played in every game, starting seven contests at right defensive tackle…Recorded 39 tackles (18 solos) with a 6-yard sack and two stops for losses of 7 yards…Recovered two fumbles.

HIGH SCHOOL

1997 graduate of Fontana (Cal.) High...First-team All-Citrus Belt League and All-Inland Valley selection as a senior in 1996...Totaled 63 unassisted tackles, 24 assisted stops, eight sacks and three pass deflections...Played on a team that went 11-1-1...Attended A.B. Miller High School in Fontana his sophomore and junior seasons where he was a two-time All-San Andreas League selection.
