Edwards leaning towards staying with Vinny

Q)Can you talk about the injuries?

Edwards: Eric Barton tore his left tricep and he's done for the year. He's have surgery. Vinny Testaverde sprained his right Achilles tendon. I don't know where he's at, but he will be out a while. Laveranues Coles is getting x-rays on his left elbow.

Q)What did you tell the team after the game?

Edwards: When you spot a team like that that many points, it makes it very difficult to win, especially on the road. We turned it over too many times, and couldn't overcome it. The second half was basically a 7-7 game.

Q)After Vinny fumbled three times, did you contemplate a quarterback change?

Edwards: No, not really because a couple of those we turned some guys loose on him, right up the middle. We had the protection called, but we just didn't quite get it. He took some shots. We need to protect our quarterback and we haven't done a good job of that.

Q)Did the injury to Kevin Mawae have a big impact on the line play?

Edwards: We might have missed a couple of calls. Everyone on the offensive line is kind of new except for the right guard. So that was a problem.

Q)How long is Vinny going to be out?

Edwards: I don't know at this point how long it's going to be. It's a sprain. It's not a tear.

Q)If Vinny is healthy, will he continue to start?

Edwards: I would anticipate that, yes. We do have a bye week, so we will decide exactly where we want to go during the bye week.
