Barrett - out/Miller - in

He wasn't even on the injury report on Wednesday, but now cornerback David Barrett is out for the Jets game at Carolina.

He suffered a scratched eye in the Jets loss to San Diego, and that injury will keep him out against the Panthers.

Barrett will be replaced by rookie Justin Miller. Last week Miller actually replaced a struggling Barrett for a couple of series.

This start has to be extra special for Miller. Not only is it his first in the NFL, but it comes in Charlotte right down the road from where he played his college football at Clemson. Miller is very well known in the Carolinas.

Miller is faster than Barrett. Miller's 4.4 speed could help the Jets deal with speedy wideout Steve Smith.
