Jets and Heimerdinger part ways

Mike Heimerdinger is a free man.

"The New York Jets announced today that offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger and the team have mutually agreed to part ways," said Jets spokesman Jared Winley.

Heimerdinger will likely end up as the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator. The Jets will probably hire either Chris Palmer (Houston Texans), Mike Shephard (New Orleans Saints) or Steve Fairchild (St. Louis Rams) as their next offensive coordinator.

The departure of Heimerdinger means the Jets offensive players will have to learn their third new offense in three years.
