Fairchild picks Buffalo

One of the candidates to replace Mike Heimerdinger as Jets offensive coordinator was gobbled up by the Buffalo Bills.

Former St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild, who the Jets interviewed this week to replace Heimerdinger, joined the Buffalo Bills coaching staff on Wednesday. He used to coach for the Bills, so this gave Buffalo the edge for his services.

Two other candidates for the Jets opening - Chris Palmer and Mike Shephard are still available, and appear to be the front-runners for the job.

Another possibility is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback coach Pat Shurmur. He was seen talking to Jets GM Terry Bradway at the Senior Bowl.
