Jets close to naming tight end coach

A college coach has emerged as the leading candidate to become the Jets tight end coach.

The Jets are expected to name University of Miami assistant Mario Cristobal as their tight end coach. The announcement could come on Friday.

Cristobal got a strong endorsement from the Jets new offensive line coach - Tony Wise, a former UM assistant.

Cristobal played offensive tackle for the Hurricanes from 1988-92. Prior to becoming an assistant at Miami, he was on the staff at Rutgers.
