Jets should consider picking Davis

Maryland tight end Vernon Davis might be too good to pass up with the fourth pick of the draft.

To call him a freak-of-nature, might be an understatement.

The 6-3, 251-pound Davis was clocked at 4.38 and 4.43 in the forty. Some scouts had him timed at faster times than those - 4.34 and 4.36. Then he registered an impressive 42" vertical leap, and bench-pressed 225 pounds, 36 times, which is outstanding.

"He has off-the-charts computer numbers," said ESPN's Mel Kiper. "He has a size/speed/strength combination that is rarely found at his position."

The Jets could use a difference-maker at tight end, and Davis has the earmarks of a potential superstar.
