Jets Preseason Schedule announced

The Jets will begin their 2006 campaign by traveling south to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium, a venue the Jets last visited in 2000 during the regular season, a Jets' 21-17 victory. The all-time preseason series between the two clubs is tied at three games apiece, with the last meeting coming in 2003 at The American Bowl in Tokyo, Japan.

The Green and White will remain on the road for their second preseason contest, this time traveling to Washington, D.C. to face the Joe Gibbs led Redskins. The preseason series also remains knotted at three games each, as the teams last met in 1993 in RFK Stadium. The trip to FedEx Field will mark the Jets' first trip to Washington since "Kickoff 2003," when the Jets dropped a close contest, 16-13, behind the Patrick Ramsey led Redskins.

The Jets will then return home to The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. for their final two postseason games, first renewing their annual rivalry with the New York Giants, who last year ended the Jets' nine game winning streak dating back to the 1996 preseason. The Jets hold a slim 19-17 advantage in the preseason contests dating back to 1969.

The preseason finale will also be held at The Meadowlands, as another NFC East invader comes to town in the form of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Jets lead the annual preseason series, 16-11, as the two teams have met nearly every season the past 27 years.
