Pennington happy with progress

Appearing at a sporting goods store in New Jersey on Saturday, Chad Pennington talked to the Star-Ledger about his shoulder rehab. Here is an update on how he is doing in his attempt to come back from a second right shoulder surgery.

Chad Pennington feels the rehab couldn't be going better.

"Everything's going well," said Pennington. "I couldn't be happier with the way things are going."

He was happy with how his shoulder held up in the Jets mini-camps and OTA's.

"I was able to go through spring practices and mini-camps," said Pennington. "I looked at that as a success because I made it through and I didn't have any setbacks."

And Pennington is looking forward to the competition this summer for the starting quarterback job. He will have to fend off Patrick Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger and Kellen Clemens.

"Athletics is all about competition," said Pennington. "I embrace it. That's why I'm working so hard -- because I want to be the starter."
