The Jets announced today they have signed fourth round draft pick Alan Harper. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Terry Bradway.
The Jets have signed fourth round draft pick Alan Harper.
Harper, a 6-1, 285-pound defensive tackle from Fresno State University was the 121st overall choice in the April NFL Draft. He played in 50 games and started 45 over four years as a Bulldog. Harper finished his college career with 233 tackles (54 tackles for loss), 21 sacks, three fumbles forced, three fumble recoveries, one interception and four pass defenses. His 21 sacks place him third on the all-time list at FSU. Harper was named the Western Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year after racking up 58 tackles (21 for loss) and 12 sacks as a senior.
"We're glad to bring Alan into the fold and to have him as a New York Jet," said Bradway. "With this signing, we have all of our draft picks signed, except one, before camp starts. Overall, it's been a progressive off-season and we feel very good about the start of training camp and the upcoming season."
The Jets have signed four of their five draft picks, the lone exception being safety Jon McGraw.
