Browns announce they've traded Suggs to Jets

The Cleveland Browns announced today that they have traded running back Lee Suggs to the New York Jets in exchange for defensive back Derrick Strait. The announcement was made by Browns' GM Phil Savage.

Suggs, who turned 26 on Friday, August 11, has played in 25 career games, starting four of the contests, and accumulated 1,048 yards on 263 carries for a 4.0 career rushing average and four touchdowns. The 6-0, 213-pound product of Virginia Tech was selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Browns and enjoyed his finest season in 2004 when he led the Browns in rushing with 744 yards and established career highs in attempts (199) and yards rushing (744). He finished the 2004 season with three consecutive 100-yard rushing games, the first Browns running back since 1978 to accomplish the feat. He also rushed for a career-high 186 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns at Cincinnati on December 28, 2003, while his 78-yard touchdown run at Cincinnati on December 28, 2003, was tied for the third-longest in franchise history.
