Tight end Doug Jolley didn't have a good game. Chad Pennington had to burn a time when Jolley lined up in the wrong spot on the team's second offensive possession. Pennington gave Jolley an earful before heading to the sidelines. Then he was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and got ripped into by Jets coach Eric Mangini. Don't be shocked if the team goes with Chris Baker, Joel Dreessen and Walter Rasby at tight end . . .
Cornerback David Barrett didn't play. He was also held out of the last practice of training camp. It's possible he aggravated a groin injury he suffered early in camp . . .
Safety Kerry Rhodes got knocked cold on a hit in the first half, and was out for about 20 seconds. But after being helped off the field, he insisted on going back in the game. Rhodes has developed into a much better tackler and hitter than he was at Louisville . . .
The Jets defensive coaches have really taken a liking to rookie cornerback Drew Coleman, who handled the nickel back role with the first defense . . .
The defensive starters played a full three quarters, which is very rare in a preseason game . . .
Left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson was briefly benched after committing his second false start penalty. Adrian Jones was inserted at left tackle for one drive, before Ferguson was put back in the game. Mangini said after the game he wasn't happy with Ferguson's focus.
By the way, it's looks official - Anthony Clement has beat out Jones for the right tackle job . . .
Outside linebacker Trevor Johnson did a good job rushing the quarterback late in the game, finishing with a sack and a pressure. Dwayne Robertson also had a sack and pressure . . .
Steve Morley, who came to the Jets as a left tackle, has been moved to left guard . . .
Chad Pennington had an average performance. His best pass might have been a crossing route to Laveraneus Coles over the middle with cornerback Sam Madison in tight coverage. He also lofted a perfect strike over a linebacker to wide receiver Justin McCareins for 40 yards . . .
