It shouldn't come as a surprise that he's real good at catching the ball. He was recruited to Nebraska as a tight end, and played the position for a couple of years in Lincoln . . .
The Jets had some real tough decisions to make in the secondary, and the signing on Friday of cornerback Hank Poteat, will make Saturday's cuts even more difficult. The Jets are going to have to cut some players they don't want to, with cornerback Ray Mickens, and safety Rashad Washington, two candidates. Two other players on the fence are Derrick Strait and Andre Maddox. If these four guys are cut, they won't be on the street long. Maddox made himself very hard to cut on Friday with a seven tackle performance, and some good work on special teams . . .
It's still a mystery why running back Cedric Houston played so little in the preseason, prior to the Philadelphia game. He finally got a legitimate chance to show what he can do against the Eagles, and shined. He ran 25 times for 108 yards, and broke tackles all night. If he was on the fence, he's not on it anymore . . .
Wide receiver Dante Ridgeway returned from a knee injury that kept him out most of training camp, and made a sensational one-handed touchdown grab. This will make the wide receiver cuts even more difficult. It looks like Reggie Newhouse, who was one of the stars in camp, is in trouble . . .
New Jets backup nose tackle C.J. Mosley saw a little action in the second half, and it's quite apparent he has a lot of work to do, adjusting the the 3-4. He's was a 4-3 nose tackle at Missouri and in Minnesota. He's not used to playing head-up on the center . . .
Defensive end Titus Adams at least locked up a practice squad spot with a terrific performance, including a tipped pass, and a late goalline tackle to secure the Jets victory . . .
