Jets release Two, sign One...

The New York Jets released G Leon Hires this afternoon. Just hours ago during the morning practice, Hires had to be helped back to the training room, suffering from fatigue, nausea and dizziness…The Jets also released rookie punter John Amitrano. It is rumored that Amitrano has already scheduled a tryout with the Green Bay Packers…Jets General Manager Terry Bradway also announced a signing this afternoon. Free agent G John Grabowski. Grabowski, a 6-5, 313-pound offensive lineman out of Eastern Michigan, was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2002 draft, before being waived on July 31st…In this afternoon's practice players wore only shells, no leg pads…LB Sam Cowart was held out of practice again today…QB Vinny Testaverde and WR Wayne Chrebet were given the afternoon off…In his press conference this morning Coach Herm Edwards addressed the recent issue around NFL training camps of fights breaking out. "It's a waste of time, it's a waste of energy. Guys could get hurt, break their hand, and then we're on ESPN. Well I don't want that."
