Cornerback David Barrett (hip-questionable) is listed for the third straight week as questionable with a hip injury, but he played the first two games with it. So expect the same this week. He had a great game last week with the injury, including a PD in the end zone, and an interception.
Wide receiver Tim Dwight (thigh-questionable) is an enigma. He seems to be running well early in practice, but then doesn't take part in the later, more important parts of practice. This has been the case three weeks in a row. The Jets don't want to rush him back from an injury that seems to be a deep thigh bruise. But they might need him this week if Laveranus Coles (questionable-calf) can't play. Coles was held out of practice all week. And when running early in practice, he was clearly hobbling with a big sleeve on this left calf. If Coles can't start, former starter Justin McCareins will, and rookie Brad Smith will assume the #3 role. If both Dwight and Coles can't go, rookie wideout Wallace Wright might need to be called up from the practice squad.
Guard Pete Kendall (hamstring-questionable) probably won't play this week. He hasn't practiced, and it seems like a pretty severe pull. If he can't go, the Jets have three players who could replace him Norm Katnik, Adrian Jones or Wade Smith. There is a chance you could see a combination of these three. It would likely be Katnik and Jones since they know the offense a lot better than Smith, who was just claimed last week on waivers from Miami.
Defensive end Dave Ball (probable-hand) has an injury that could really impact his success. He clearly has a broken bone in his left hand, and has been practice with a big club. He can't grab anything with that club, which isn't good for line play. Ball plays a lot in the rotation at end.
Linebacker Matt Chatham (foot-probable) has been listed for three weeks, but hasn't been limited at all, and the same will be the case this week. He is a part of the Jets linebacker rotation, and a leader on special teams.
Quarterback Chad Pennington (calf-probable) practiced all week and will start.
Safety Kerry Rhodes (ankle-probable) played last week with this injury and had 11 tackles, a sack and forced fumble, so it's obviously not a big deal.
Defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen (knee-probable) practiced all week and will start.
