· New York's No. 1 receiver leads the NFL with 24 receptions and stands second in the league with 331 receiving yards and a touchdown, helping the Jets post a 2-1 September record. Coles' seven third-down receptions tie him with Indianapolis' REGGIE WAYNE and Pittsburgh's HINES WARD for the high mark in the AFC. Coles has posted either 100 receiving yards or 10 catches in each of the Jets' three September contests and has recorded a reception of more than 40 yards in two of the three. The Jacksonville native's 331 receiving yards are the most by a Jets player in the first three games of a season since Pro Football Hall of Famer DON MAYNARD (356) in 1968 when New York eventually went on to defeat the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.
In his seventh season from Florida State, this is Coles' first career Player of the Month Award.
