Woodbury Hurt

QB Tory Woodbury strained his hamstring this morning and is doubtful for Thursday's game against Baltimore.

If Tory is unable to go, Iowa rookie Kyle McCann will be the third string quarterback for the game…C Kevin Mawae, G David Viger, G Dave Szott, DE John Abraham, DE Riley Kleinhesselink and FB Jerald Sowell are all injured and will not make the trip to Baltimore for Thursday's game…TE-LS James Dearth missed practice this morning with back spasms. C Dennis O'Sullivan was taking long snaps in his place…In his press conference this morning Herm Edwards said of WR Wayne Chrebet, "He's probably the worst pattern runner I've ever seen, but he knows how to get open." Chrebet, as usual, has shown his sure hands in practices and is having another fine camp…Edwards was upset at another fumbled snap this morning, and it appears to be an ongoing problem for the Jets in training camp. One possible explanation for the fumbles is the unusual amount of sweat on the player's hands and on the ball, due to the extreme heat. G J.P. Machado, who has been filling in for Kevin Mawae at center, tends to sweat profusely, and might inadvertently cause fumbles when hiking the ball to the quarterback…The players were sluggish for most of practice this morning, and Edwards said, "Today we felt a little sorry for ourselves. I think some of them heard the weather forecast last night." Today's high temperature is 97-degrees, with a heat index making it feel like 105
