The New York Jets defeated the Baltimore Ravens last night 34-16, in their second preseason game


The first unit looked very good on offense. Vinny Testaverde led an opening drive of 69-yards, that resulted in a 31-yard touchdown strike to WR Laveranues Coles. Testaverde finished the game completing 9 of 12 passes for 129-yards and 1 touchdown. WR Wayne Chrebet was sensational, catching 4 passes for 87-yards, each catch more acrobatic than the next. RB Curtis Martin saw more action in his second preseason game, getting 4 carries for 30-yards, including an 18-yard gain down the sideline. RB LaMont Jordan had 9 carries for 31 yards and a pair of touchdown runs. The run-defense was suspect last night, but Jet fans saw some positives from the pass rush. DE DeAngelo Lloyd had two blocked passes and two fumble recoveries. Rookie DE Bryan Thomas had a strip sack on quarterback Jeff Blake, and a big tackle in the backfield that resulted in an 11-yard Raven loss. LB James Darling had 7 first quarter tackles, and LB Sam Cowart, in his first game action in over a year, had 4 tackles. The special teams had its ups and downs last night. RB-KR Chad Morton had a 67-yard kickoff return, but the team also allowed a 99-yard Kickoff return from the Raven's J. Hunter. PK Danny Boyd was 2 for 4 on field goal attempts, filling in for PK John Hall. DT Larry Webster left the game in the first quarter with a bruised right knee.
