Cowart Rusty in Return

LB Sam Cowart got his first game action in over a year Thursday night, when the Jets defeated the Ravens 34-16

Cowart had 4 tackles in the game, but Herm Edwards felt it was an, understandably rusty debut…DT Josh Evans has also been rusty in the preseason, largely due to the fact that he signed late with the Jets, and missed an opportunity for an offseason conditioning program…Edwards said DE DeAngelo Lloyd has an excellent chance of making the team, after his strong play this preseason. In Thursday's game, Lloyd had two blocked passes, and two fumble recoveries…Rookie DE Bryan Thomas is progressing nicely and had a good game on Thursday, but coaches feel he is rushing up field too much, creating a big gap for the quarterbacks to scramble…The offensive line had a good game, and the Jets feel that new line coach Doug Marrone has done an excellent job thus far…Jet coaches are also happy that the defense has forced 9 turnovers in the two preseason games and only allowed 1 touchdown…They were very pleased with QB Vinny Testaverde's accuracy on Thursday, as well as the blocking of TE Chris Baker…CB Jamie Henderson injured his shoulder in Thursday's game, and will be out for 2 to 3 weeks…DT Larry Webster will have an MRI today on his bruised right knee. The results of the MRI will be released tomorrow.
