Jets Lose Two More

Two of the Jets starting players were knocked out of practice this afternoon.

WR Wayne Chrebet had a knee-to-knee collision with rookie S Jon McGraw and limped off the field. Chrebet was already wearing a stocking type brace around his left calf from a previous injury. The other injury was sustained by FS Damien Robinson, who felt his left groin tighten up shortly after practice began. There was no word on the severity of the injuries, but neither player appeared to be seriously hurt…Edwards described C Kevin Mawae as being an agitator during his press conference today. Mawae is great at getting inside opposing player's heads and annoying them. He's also the guy who will give his opponent an extra push at the end of a play, and get his teammates going. The Jets are happy to have the three-time Pro Bowler back…Since Mawae's return to the lineup, J.P. Machado has shifted back to his regular position at guard…In Saturday's game against the Giants, the starters will play the entire first half. On the sideline next to Edwards will be an honorary guest. Sterling Alves, head coach of the New York Fire Department's football team will be an assistant coach during the game and call one play. Alves recently retired after 23 years as a fireman…McGraw filled in for Robinson during the rest of practice this afternoon, and made an outstanding defensive play, leaping through the air to deflect a Chad Pennington pass. McGraw will be the dime back while CB Jamie Henderson recovers from a shoulder injury…WR Laveranues Coles made a nice play to prevent an interception from CB Donnie Abraham. CB Marcus Floyd also made a nice defensive play, stripping WR Kory Bailey.
