Quad Contusion for Chrebet

The knee-to-knee collision with S Jon McGraw in yesterday's practice has left WR Wayne Chrebet with a left quad contusion.

Chrebet sat out of practice today, but will probably play in Saturday's game against the Giants…FS Damien Robinson missed practice today after injuring his left groin in yesterday's practice, and is listed as day-to-day…LB Marvin Jones was held out of practice again today as he continues to recover from a hematoma in his throat. Jones will be re-evaluated by doctors on Friday or Saturday, but will probably be held out of Saturday's game. Herm Edwards is concerned with Jones taking another shot in the throat…PK John Hall has been kicking this week and feeling better. He will play in Saturday's game. DT Larry Webster was riding a bike this morning and is feeling better, as is DE John Abraham, who was jogging on the knee yesterday…Edwards said he will hold a meeting with the rookies this week to discuss next week's roster cuts. He has expressed concern that many young players will "cut themselves," by convincing themselves they aren't going to make it, and consequently having a drop off in their play. Edwards said he will go with the best players he has, and not be as concerned with having too many players at one position…LB Jason Glenn is coming along nicely in camp this summer, but Edwards says he needs to get more focused in order to take the next step…LB James Darling is having another solid camp and the Jets consider him as a fourth starting linebacker. Darling has played while LB Sam Cowart and LB Marvin Jones have missed time with injuries, in addition to being the Jets best special teams player. Edwards loves the intensity that Darling practices with…The grass practice field will be redone, starting at the end of this week. The team will practice on the turf practice field and at Michel Field, where the family night was held, until the grass field is ready by the end of next week…Rookie shows are a training camp ritual in the NFL, and the Jets will hold theirs tomorrow night. Edwards is picking Jon McGraw, who is an accomplished violin player, as the early favorite…QB Vinny Testaverde threw two interceptions in a row, during a two-minute drill to close out the morning practice. The first pick was by CB Ray Mickens, and the second by SS Sam Garnes. Both passes were intended for FB Jerald Sowell. Edwards was not overly concerned with the interceptions because they were practicing last-minute shots into the enzone.
