Abraham Improving

The Jets defensive star, DE John Abraham, is making steady progress after severely spraining his MCL early in training camp

Last week he was doing light jogging, and today he will try running on the knee with a brace on. Abraham could return in time for the season opener against Buffalo, but would only play sparingly, if at all… Herm Edwards has been pleased with Shaun Ellis thus far, and felt that Ellis has been much happier this season and it has shown in his play… The Jets offense has been terrific in three preseason games thus far. In Saturday's victory Vinny Testaverde and Chad Pennington combined to complete 22 of 28 passes for 234 – yards and three touchdowns. The offense has adjusted to Paul Hackett's system, and Edwards said Hackett has adjusted to his offense as well. "Players see a much looser Paul Hackett. He jokes around. Last year, they didn't know if they could joke with him or not, because he was always coming at them. They're getting a better feel for him…

One of the more surprising cuts the GM Terry Bradway announced today was linebacker Idris Price. Price had been having a good camp and showing potential. He is a candidate to be brought back as a practice squad player…. Quarterback Gus Ornstein was among the 15 players waived today, and said, "I really don't think I ever got a chance." Ornstein remains optimistic. "But I'm not done yet. I've gotten some interest from Canada and I feel I've gotten a little taste in the NFL and that I can play in this league."

The Jets will begin their regular season practice schedule today.
