Jets on the Mend

With several players out with major and minor injuries, the Jets are just hoping everyone heals in time for the season opener…

WR Santana Moss has been out of practice yesterday and today, and Herm Edwards now says he's not sure whether Moss will play against the Eagles in the final preseason game this Friday… DT Larry Webster has been slow to heal from a quad contusion he suffered in the second preseason game against Baltimore, and is questionable for the season opener in Buffalo.

DE John Abraham, who's MCL sprain was a more serious injury than Webster's, is now farther along in his rehab than Webster, and should play a limited role at Buffalo. Abraham has been having trouble changing direction and Edwards said, "he's still a little hesitant." Abraham did get through yesterday's practice okay, although he did not participate in any scrimmages. He could practice again this afternoon… DE Riley Kleinhesselink could be out another two-to-three weeks with the severely sprained ankle he suffered in the preseason opener against Pittsburgh.

G David Viger has been slow to heal from a calf injury, and will likely be given an injury settlement and released. QB Vinny Testaverde will probably only get one or two series against the Eagles this Friday. The Jets want to get through the final preseason game without any more injuries. The Jet wide receivers will get their toughest test of the preseason this Friday, as the Eagles have the strongest secondary of any team they've faced thus far….FS Damien Robinson is back practicing this week and should start against the Eagles on Friday.
