Done Deal!

The Jets and RB Curtis Martin have agreed on a contract extension.

The announcement will be officially made at a 2:30pm press conference in New York City. The contract figures have not been announced, but the signing bonus is believed to be around $10 million. Herm Edwards had this to say about the signing: "It's the right thing to do. This is a guy who is going to the hall of fame if he continues doing what he is doing."

There is a good chance that Martin will not play in tomorrow night's final preseason game at the Meadowlands, against the Eagles. The field is expected to be in terrible condition with the forecast predicting three straight days of rain, as well as a Giants game being played on the field tonight… RB LaMont Jordan will probably not play either, meaning Jets fans will get a good look at the younger backs, including John Reese, Little John Flowers and Marlion Jackson. Jordan is being held out because of what Edwards described as "general soreness."

FS Damien Robinson will be a game time decision. The Jets are concerned that will the poor field conditions, Robinson could slip and re-injure the groin that kept him out of last week's game against the Giants. With SS Sam Garnes out with a fractured thumb, the Jets could feature a secondary that has Nick Ferguson and rookie Jon McGraw at the safety spots.
