By 4:00 p.m. ET tomorrow, the Jets will make their final roster cuts.

The Jets roster is currently at 60 players, after nine players were waived today. Seven more will have to be released tomorrow to bring the roster down to the required 53 player limit.

Among today's waived players was G David Viger, who received an injury settlement. Viger had missed most of camp with a calf injury… The Jets also waived RB Marlion Jackson who has been on the team's practice squad for the last two seasons. Herm Edwards said he will make some calls around the league and try to get Jackson a job somewhere else.

It has been determined that DT Larry Webster will not recover from his quad contusion in time to return for the season opener against Buffalo… DE John Abraham will be evaluated in practice this week to determine whether he'll be ready to go for week one… Rookie S Jon McGraw will officially be the dime back to start the season, while Jamie Henderson continues to recover from a partially dislocated shoulder.

The Jets received calls from several teams inquiring about trade possibilities involving their defensive linemen. When asked if DE Shaun Ellis was among the names mentioned, Edwards said, "If they did, too bad because they aren't getting Shaun."… Edwards felt DE DeAngelo Lloyd has leveled off in the last two preseason games, after performing so well in the first two. He sighted fatigue as a possible reason for the decline.

Edwards wants to keep both rookie cornerbacks Marcus Floyd and Andrew Davison on the team. The likelihood is that one of the players will make the roster while the other will be on the practice squad. If Floyd makes the team it will be on the strength of his special team play. In last night's final preseason game against the Eagles, Floyd averaged over 40-yards a return. As a cornerback Floyd is very raw and a major work in progress. He played three different positions at Indiana University, and never had the time to develop at cornerback.

Edwards was raving about the throw and catch from QB Chad Pennington to TE Daniel Wilcox in last night's game. Just a day before the game, Wilcox was waived by the Jets to make room for QB Todd Husak. The Jets brought him back, and Wilcox came up with a big catch.
