Next Stop Buffalo

With an undefeated preseason behind them, the Jets prepare to head up to Buffalo for the season opener.

DT Larry Webster is doubtful for the game… CB Jamie Henderson is out…SS Sam Garnes is questionable right now, but Herm Edwards says he expects him to be ready to play. The Jets are looking around the league for another strong safety that would be added into the rotation. They are also looking at the quarterback, wide receiver and linebacker positions in the free agent market.

This year's practice squad could include about seven players… DE John Abraham is questionable for Buffalo. He will go full speed in practice this week and be re-evaluated. There is a chance that Abraham could start in the game, but would most likely receive limited minutes… LB Sam Cowart is ready to go against his former team on Sunday, but Edwards said he needs to settle down and not get too excited. Edwards sighted LB James Darling receiving an unnecessary roughness penalty against his former team Friday night against the Eagles as an example of not trying to do too much against your old team.

In addressing why his team went 3-5 at home last season, Edwards felt there are a lot more distractions playing at home, and when you're on the road you understand exactly what mind frame you have to be in… "Will I be nervous?" Herm asked in response to how he will feel in the opener of his second season. "Absolutely."
