Jets name new PR director

The Jets have finally settled on a replacement for PR director Ron Colangelo, who stepped down after last season.

Jets Confidential has learned that Carolina Panther's assistant Bruce Speight has landed the job.

Speight supervised the production and distribution of information for media for Carolina Panther football games, including media information packets and the team media guide, and facilitation of interview requests. Additionally, he handled the operations for the press box at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. When the Panthers were on the road, Speight served as the team's on-field media contact.

Speight came to Carolina from Streetball Partners International in April 1995 after serving as an event director for the Hoop It Up three-on-three basketball world tour and NFL Air It Out four-on-four flag football national tour. He also has spent time as an account executive for Hoop It Up's national sponsors.

A native of Greenbelt, Maryland, Speight is a 1990 graduate of Howard University with a degree in broadcast journalism. He and his wife, Angelique, have two daughters.
