McCareins: I have always tried to worry about things that I can control. There are a lot of things that are out of my hands and decisions that are made that I have no control over.
I am a New York Jet until they tell me to leave and I will continue to work hard every time I walk into this building and out on to this field. I am going to be doing things 100% and preparing myself. I am a professional football player and I strive to be the best I can be.
Q)Do the trade rumors bother you?
McCareins: There is nothing guaranteed in football or in life, but I feel my skills are as good as anyone out there. That doesn't mean that everyone else will feel that way.
Q)How do you feel physically?
McCareins: I feel as good as I have ever felt. My skills are improving and I feel like I am coming to work focused and I am practicing hard.
Q)Do you feel extra pressure now with all the speculation regarding your future?
McCareins: I don't feel any more then before. I am a pretty self-motivated guy. I try not to worry about (what people say). I know when I am doing well and I know when I am playing my best, practicing as hard as I can and focusing as best I can. That's what I try to do - meet my own standards.
Q)How do you feel about being in limbo?
McCareins: I don't think it will feel any different then every other off-season. I try to practice and prepare like I am being cut no matter what season I played in the league. This is a competitive business and I am not going to go out half-stepping any day of the week. I am going to continue to prepare like I am going to be on the team and practice like nothing is guaranteed and I have always approached things that way.
