I still believe

New England Patriots 44, NY Jets 7. That was the final score on Sunday, September 15th, 2002. It was the worst game I've ever seen in my life, it was just not exciting to watch. However, if there's a single positive from that game is the fact that as a diehard Jets Fan, it just made me believe more in this team.

I'm not the kind of guy who will berate a Player on the NY Jets for a performance, the way I see it, we played as a team and we lost as a team. Losses give wisdom to everyone, whether it's on the field or just in life. A lot of people are ready to write-off the Jets and our 8 wins streak against the Miami Dolphins as if we were degraded to nothing. I beg to differ, this team has a uniqueness to it that not a whole lot of other NFL Teams have. They have special people who have special talents that they bring to the table. You can't tell me that the best teams in history haven't had an embarrassing or "shocking" loss. Perfect example that is happening right now is to those St. Louis Rams. They haven't won a game dating back to last years SuperBowl loss, yet a lot of critics' feels they'll be returning to the SuperBowl this year. Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion but for this Jets Fan to simply throw in the towel is unheard of. Even after that loss to the defending SuperBowl Champs, I still wore my Jets hat, I still drove around with my Jets Flag outside my car, and I still kept being a J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS Fan. One loss won't phase the team and it certainly won't phase me.

Of course I know tons of people will say that the Jets are a disgrace or that they are clueless when it comes to coaching, planning a strategy, etc. Let's face it, we played the reigning SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS, they haven't lost yet, and they proved to a lot of people that they aren't a fluke. I was one of them and I admit they definitely impressed me last week.

All I'm trying to say is don't give up Green & White pride just because of a loss. Where are my fellow brothers and sisters who stuck by the Gang Green when they went 1-15? Where are my pals who still kept hope when Vinny Testaverde went down for the season back in 1999? Where are the older generation of Jets Fans who witnessed the glory of 1969 when the Jets became SuperBowl champions?!?!?!?!

Keep hope alive and know that we've got some great talent, great coaching, and some great men and women who proudly say they're Jets Fans. We're going up against our hated rivals in the Miami Dolphins at their Home, know what I think? Can't wait to make it 9 wins in a row because I honestly feel after a loss like that, the Jets are going to come out with a fire burning inside of them. I could be wrong of course, but I believe in the Jets. For the past 4 years we've always had the number of the Dolphins, we've beaten them easily, we've had some great close games against them, and we've come back from behind against them, why should this year be any different? I'm not jumping off the Jets bandwagon just because of a bad game nor because we're playing a team that's 2-0.

Finally, if the Jets go 2-1 or 1-2, I will still stand tall and know that better days are indeed ahead no matter what. Maybe come January when we're playing some NFC Team in San Diego, my words now in September will actually mean something. Mark my words, this NY Jets Team is special, and we're going to surprise so many people this year, it's not even funny.
