If he doesn't, this could create a problem for the Jets. While the team is in good shape at tailback with Thomas Jones and Leon Washington, Houston gave them some quality depth.
While Washington is currently the #2 tailback behind Jones, it's hard to see him being a featured tailback if Jones got hurt. Washington is a terrific talent, but he's just 5-7, 205 pounds, and carrying the ball 20-25 times a game could be dangerous for him.
So that is why the team needs Houston.
If Houston doesn't return, a player who could help the Jets at tailback is fullback Stacey Tutt, who was a terrific running quarterback at Richmond. Another option is rookie free agent Danny Ware.
